The Beauty of Bows

Almost every little girl has that picture of herself when she was a baby, all dressed up in a Sunday dress, with a big ole bow in her hair. I know that when I was a baby, my momma would put what little hair I did have up in a bow.

No, this is not me...
However, the bows were soon outgrown, and I moved on to more sophisticated hair accessories.... like scrunchies.

If you are like me, every now and then you miss the carefree days when you could wear the big bows and not care what anyone thought about you.

But, do I have good news for every bow lover out there. THE BOW IS BACK!

Bows are not just for babies anymore, they are for the fashion forward. Today, if you walk into any store and head to the hair accessories, you will find a variety of different types of bows. There are big bows, little bows, glittery bows, and headbands with bows on top. There is a type of bow for every outfit; whether it is a casual day outfit or a night time party outfit. It is the era of the bow, and for me to become a true girly girl, I have to embrace them.

Lady Gaga knows how to rock the bow style.
As usual, my suitemate Zandi, already knew about the bow phenomenon and had started a collection.

She uses her bows to show school spirit.
Following Zandi's example, I decided that to be a girly girl, I needed to invest in some bows of my own. So for Christmas I asked for some bow hair accessories. My transformation could never be complete without some cute bows.

And guess what? Santa Clause came through :)

I am now the proud owner of two very cute black bows that I plan to wear anytime I get the chance. Being a girly girl is all about learning to accessorize, and I am on my way with my new black bows.

You see my black bow?
PS- Zandi and I are always looking for new hair accessories. If you see any that you think we would like, please let me know. I am in the market for some bows with some sparkle :)

  4. I love the idea for this Becoming a Girly Girl blog. The bow post is a throwback to retro, but definitely makes me want to go out and buy some bows. Great job.
